Norton ghost windows 2000 migrate new computer
I will be trying this soon, and I actually have a question submitted that I will complete and post when I try it. But this method is expensive for you. Maybe Symantec has a similar product, I'm not sure. I hope this helps anyway, but I would be curious to try your way first.
Just get a floppy drive from somewhere, load the drives onto it, and press F6 when the Windows install begins. I've already used it once but on the same computer, when upgrading the hard drive. It had the exact look, and the such, except for the hard drive space.
It had the exact look, and the such, except …. The Ghost file is a clone of the original, including the hardware settings. If the new machine has different hardware, Windows 98 and can discover and bind in the new hardware, but Product Activation will choke XP. Norton Ghost copies byte by byte.
There won't be a problem upgrading using new hard drive. Just as long as the new drive is the same size or larger, but cannot be smaller. If you're running 95 or I have no idea where you could get a new version of Ghost 9 or 10 unless it's somewhere that had had it stock all these years and never sold out. I don't think it would install though. I'd be afraid to buy Ghost 10 because it required activation. SW Pro did require activation if I remember correctly.
After doing some digging, I found out that Ghost 9 does not need activation. Just put the license key in and go. Back to top.
