Default email program windows 7
Original title: Default Programs Windows 7 Premium. Trying to set for the first time a default email program. Go to "set program access and computer defaults" section and choose "custom" and then select AOL. The change appears to be made but when we go back it has gone back to "use my current email program" which remains unset.
Also tried to choose the "non-microsoft option" and again it seems like the change is made but coming back it is at custom and the original defaults. Can not set a default email program. You cannot set AOL as the default email program as it is a web based email provider. To add AOL Mail as optional e-mail provider you will need to have a mail client program installed. A mail client is a program that helps you manage your mail from a program window instead of web access like Microsoft Outlook, Windows Mail etc.
If you have installed AOL email client, then try to uninstall and reinstall the email client and check if it fixes the problem. Regards, Afzal Taher-Microsoft Support. Visit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think. Was this reply helpful?
In this tutorial, we are going to show you how you can change your default email client in Windows. Note: This tutorial is written using Windows 7, the instructions for Windows 8 are also same with minor visual changes.
Before starting, you should at least have more than one email client to be able to change between them. There are many reliable Email clients, some popular ones include, Outlook , Postbox and Thunderbird. You will see different options to set default programs for specific files.
You will see all the currently installed Email clients on your PC in a new window. In our case, we have set our default email client to Thunderbird.
