Check with your radio to find out what mission beholds you today. Afterwards, scout your targets and plan a strategy for their destruction! One hit, though, and you're sunk! This is a very real combat simulation for would-be captains of all ages. Not bad for a simulation, I guess. Graphics and sound are excellent, but the level of excitement isn't. Graphics aren't enough to recommend this one.
This is a sleep-inducer if you aren't really into this sort of game. If you aren't, stay away from this one. I guess if you like simulations then is something worth buying.
I, for one, was not terribly excited after playing for a while. But then again, RPG's are more my speed. The graphics are better than average as is the sound but this is just another computer game on chips. If you're into these types of games it's definitely worth getting. This is a simulation. This is a simulation on Genesis. Blah, blah, blah Caught me sloughing off. Graphically, is superb and the digitized voices are well done, but unfortunately, these factors alone cannot save a game from the depth charge Take command of the most advanced sub in the world.
In this super simulation pilot your sub through enemy infested waters on several different missions or varying degrees of difficulty. With the expanded memory capacity of the 16 bit Genesis System software, highly detailed and complex computer games and simulations are now able to be converted to cartridges. One of the first to be brought over is Attack Sub by Electronic Arts. This game is a submarine warfare simulation with you in control as the captain. Get your mission orders and develop your attack strategy.
Since it is a very real simulation you have control of all of the functions of the ship. Call up the sonar and you can see what is happening below the surface or raise the periscope to see the enemy on the surface.
Speed, depth, bearing, course, range to enemy, damage control, X-Y grid coordinates, it's all there and much, much more. No detail has been overlooked in this game. Easily, the best battle simulation ever made in the cartridge format. Of course without the manual there wasn't any chance of getting into the game play, but I did spend a few weeks playing with the telegraph system and it's censorship before I decided it was time to finally just get rid of it.
Sunken hero 0 point DOS version. Still have it and the old Lucky it was running on. It runs equally well using DFend Reloaded on Win 10 using a modern 64 bit screamer. It is still as playable and entertaining as it was 33 years ago. Playability has nothing to do with graphics or other bells and whistles of todays boring shooters.
ChaosCubed 1 point DOS version. I love this game!! TheCommodore: I have beat Hit and Run a few times. The trick is not to remain silent. Full or flank speed only. Change depths often. Find thermal layers and hide under them. When you have torpedoes after you, hit the decoy and change depths and directions immediately. Good luck!! The Commodore 3 points. I could never beat "Hit and Run" then, and I still can't beat it.
Anyone ever completed that mission? Jesuspsr 1 point. Ripper 0 point Amiga version. Loved this game, it's one of the best there is of it's kind. I sure do wish they would make games like this again. Waseem 0 point DOS version. The best modern sub game out there, even these days we don't have something as realistic as this. Highly recommended :. Wisty 0 point DOS version. Only ever managed to do the first mission successfully but it was lots of fun firing missiles and torpedos at ships and seeing them blow up before some other sub sunk me Spent many late nights playing this game with a friend over the modem.
Memories of playing phone tag trying to get the connection to sync and epic sub battles! Truth 3 points DOS version. This must be too hard for "WHAT? I'd stick with marbles What. Giovi 0 point DOS version. The few spot effects that are there are fine. The graphics are much better and everything has been well drawn: the few little bits that are animated, are animated well. The missions are timed, which some will see as a good thing and others as bad.
With about 20 missions for the solo player there's plenty to keep you busy. You have to be a certain kind of person to enjoy a sub sim: someone who likes to think about their actions and doesn't mind waiting a few minutes for things to happen. Sub sims rely on building tension and does it beautifully. A great example of the genre and a brilliant game to play with a remote friend via a cable link.
